Cross the train tracks as you approach Talkeetna, and then take the first turn to the right and go down the gravel road 1-2 minutes, ours is the last hangar in the row, closest to the runway!
You will see Sheldon Scenic Flights painted in big letters on the side of the hangar.

What to expect

Sheldon Air Service
Arrive at our office to get checked in and take part in pre-flight information. After chatting with your experienced mountain pilot, you will together set off on your flightseeing adventure into The Alaska Range!

Alaska Range
Upon takeoff from Talkeetna you will instantly be met with magnificent views of the Susitna valley and, in the distance, The Alaska Range. Our pilots are intimately familiar with this country and will point out sights on the way, as the terrain gradually changes through the foothills of the Alaska Range.

Don Sheldon Amphitheater
View The Mountain House that was built here in 1960's by our namesake Don Sheldon as a climber refuge and private retreat is a popular overnight destination to this day. On the far side of the amphitheatre you will see Mooses Tooth, Bear Tooth and Broken Tooths dramatic peaks that serve as popular climbing destinations.
To top it off you will experience the immense Ruth Gorge on the way back to Talkeetna. The Great Gorge, as it is sometimes called, is a mile deep in some places. The floor is the rugged Ruth Glacier. Watch for the brilliant pools of bright-blue glacier melt water!
